The Trump administration sent a second round of electronic posts on Friday evening asking all federal employees to summarize their work last week after the first attempt a week ago was lit in the middle of a wave of confusing directives.
Reuters has confirmed that e -mail from the government’s human resources wing, the US Personnel Management Office, have been sent to numerous agencies, asking workers to rank five things they did during the week.
The mass marks a renewable push from billionaire Elon Musk and his team of the government’s efficiency department to evaluate the performance of government employees as the administration requires mass breaks to dramatically shorten the federal trace.
“The president has explained that this is mandatory for the executive branch,” Musk wrote on X. “Whoever works in classified or other sensitive issues is still required to respond if they receive email, but can simply respond that their work is sensitive.”
Musk tried a similar solution last week, along with a threat that non -compliant workers could be fired, but it was stimulated when some agencies such as the state and justice departments told their employees to stay in the command chain.
After all, agencies informed about OPM responding to emails were voluntary.
But Musk, with the support of President Donald Trump, continued to pressure email as a tool they said to keep workers. Both men suggested that some federal employees on the salary list do not exist.
Critics, including Democratic lawmakers and work unions, say widespread cuts can hinder government’s essential functions and services.
The second round of electronic posts does not include any threat of retaliation for inconsistencies, but say workers are expected to send response to each week.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has led Pentagon workers to respect, according to media reports, but the State Department again told their employees not to leave, according to a first directive by Reuters.
The Department of Internal Security told its employees to respond to an internal email address, labeled “responsible” because of its national security responsibilities, according to a memorandum reviewed by Reuters.
The Department of Justice also assumed the directive. US duty lawyer for Colombia district, Ed Martin, told workers in his office to respect, according to a first message from Reuters.
“All federal government departments are cooperating with @doge,” Musk posted on Saturday. “For the state, DOD and some others, supervisors are collecting weekly achievements on behalf of individual contributors.”
Reuters was able to confirm that emails also sent to employees in the internal income service, national ocean and atmospheric administration and national health institutes. These agencies are all targeted by Doge for dismissal.
Musk’s team last week instructed agencies across the government to submit plans by March 13 for a significant “decrease” of staff throughout the federal labor force.
Departures continue
Already, about 100,000 employees have received purchases or have been fired after Doge was sent by Trump to search for staff and federal expenses. There are about 2.3 million federal employees across.
Holiday logs have occurred in such a random way that some agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration have been forced to remember the main staff to ensure public safety.
On Friday, the Social Security Administration, which sends benefits controls for tens of millions of Americans, said it would cut 7,000 people from its work power and close some regional offices.
Recently, the Trump administration has attracted the plug into a team of civil servants saved from technology that helped build the free tax service service service and websites rebuilt across the government.
In an overnight email to US General Services Administration employees (GSA) and seen by Reuters, GSA Technology Transformation Services Director Thomas Sedd said the team-recognized as “non-critical”.
